Honors Applications

HONORS APPLICATIONS

Honors Applications must be submitted with Diploma Request form. Limit of three (3) honors per student.

Academic Honors
Specific criteria must be met before applying for this honor; however, satisfying the requirements does not guarantee this honor will be awarded. The Diploma Program staff will make the decision based on the criteria which are listed at the bottom of the form in the rubric. Beginning in 9th grade, parents should review the rubric each year. The requirements for this honor are stringent because we want this honor to represent true academic achievement. See also Foreign Language Study List. UPDATE: Beginning with 2028 Graduates, MDHSA will no longer accept Latin as a foreign language for the Academic Honors diploma.

Diploma with Distinction for Leadership or Service
For the student who has demonstrated excellence of character, reputation, compassion or performance in extra-curricular service or leadership activities.

Diploma with Distinction for Academic Achievement
For the student who has excelled in a specific academic field. NOTE: A student may NOT receive an Academic Achievement distinction AND an Academic Honors Diploma.

Performance in Fine Arts
For the student who has completed, in addition to the requirements for a general diploma, additional requirements in Theater Arts, Performing Arts,  Fine Arts, or Music. (For the Performing Arts Honor in Music honor, the use of the Music Theory Checklist is required.)

Vocational Honors
For the student who has completed courses and credits targeting a specific trade or technical vocation in addition to completing the requirements for a general diploma.
